Altoona skincare business making CDC recommended hand-sanitzer

The Trade Secrets Skincare and Saltroom business in Altoona joins a long list of businesses making hand sanitizers in times of shortage.

Co-owner Stephanie Hite says their sanitizer meets the current CDC guidelines of 70% alcohol based, a potency which kills the coronavirus strain.

The sanitizers can be ordered on the company's Facebook page.

Hite says they have a substantial number of orders from healthcare workers and companies who employ truck drivers.

“It’s one of those things where when this whole thing happened, you want to feel like you’re doing something. And so, I kind of feel a little bit of fulfillment there, that I’m able to produce a product to get in the hands of these people on the front lines, to make them feel somewhat safer.”

Hite says a four-ounce bottle of sanitizer costs $6 and due to the ongoing shortage, she asks customers to keep the bottles for $1 refills.
